Alternate Gearing Design
Shaun have told in another thread that you are going to change gearing design to prevent backdriving. Are you going to use worm, epicyclic or cycloidal gearing? Or something else maybe?

By design, a planetary gear assembly will handle extreme torque compared to wheel type gears.. that is the reason they are used in the axle assemblies and transmissions of large industrial equipment.

My current hope is to use a planetary gear attached to the Stepper Motor to power the Drive Gears of AZ and EL. I have a gear box printed and will be spending the next day or two trying to fit it without altering too many of the other pieces in the existing system. ( I'm hoping to be able to notch the Main Base to provide enough clearance for the gear box.).
It will take me a couple days to test.
If you have other thoughts I'd like to hear them, of course.
