Since I have use of memory, I have been fascinated by anything that flies. I have been fortunate enough to keep pursuing my passion since an early age. I received my private pilot’s license at 17 and worked all the way through commercial, passing through acrobatics also. I have a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Daytona Beach Campus and a Master in Science in Aerospace Mechanics and Avionics from the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace in Toulouse France. I have worked my entire career in the Aerospace Industry, starting as an application engineering in Tata Technologies where I worked for close to 10 years in a variety of aircraft programs. I served in the board of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry for that time span as well. ThumbSat is my first venture into the space venture and a very exciting one! A global startup with brilliant minds around the world, everyday represents a challenge. However, being located in beautiful Ensenada helps the spirit. I am very thankful and proud to be incubated at Center of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of our “Máxima Casa de Estudios” the Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México. Come pay us a visit!

The work that I develop in Thumbsat is the type of work that I dreamed for all of my life, to design satellite systems that orbit in space. That is why I did my PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications in the area of Telecommunications and Satellite Systems in the Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education in Ensenada (CICESE), Mexico. I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador but I am a proudly naturalized Mexican. Since childhood I grew up following the news of each spacecraft launched into space, since the Voyager I and II, the space probes to Mars, the spaceships towards Jupiter and Saturn, as well as the New Horizons towards Pluto. I studied Electrical Mechanical Engineering at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico and the Master´s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications in the area of Electronic Instrumentation at CICESE. With my knowledge I worked previously designing process automation equipment for the industry in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico . I am currently a proud member of the Thumbsat team, leading the design of the femto-satellites at the Thumbsat Laboratory in Ensenada.

I love the idea of bringing space closer to everyone. In my student life I would have liked to have had the possibility to test a system in space. Today, I have the opportunity to contribute to future generations with this new possibility.
